About Us
The Fixer offers a simple concept:

We tailor our pricing and our personal approach to your specific needs.

Ed Swartley is The Fixer.  As the Fixer Publications Group, he offers up his writing skills for clients personally, never handing you off to some anonymous "editorial assistant."  He's a product of the heartland: Rocky Mountain roots with experience in the New York City, Chicago, St. Louis, Atlanta and Indianapolis markets.

Born in Denver, he was Editor of the Trinidad Chronicle-News and Vail Daily, as well as Business Editor of the Colorado Springs Sun newspaper.  From there, he spent 20 years as a marketing executive in the education, banking and printing industries.  He currently is Editor of the Rocky Mountain Direct Marketing Association DirectLine.

That practical experience is important because "textbook" English sometimes doesn't ring true in the ear of your audience.  It's OK to break a few rules – use a dash, occasionally ... or an ellipsis, to make a parenthetical point (even when your High Schoolmarm wouldn't rightly approve).

The whole point of writing is to communicate something unique.  A copy of the Chicago Manual of Style may offer great guidance.  But it's doubtful Steven King, Tom Clancy or Pat Conroy's are particularly dog-eared ... if they own a copy at all.

You recognize good writing because it serves its pupose well.  You learn to write better because it makes simple, practical sense.  You seek out thorough editing, advice to hone your own writing skills.

Good writing bears the undeniable mark of clarity, precision and grammatical integrity.

It bears the mark of someone who has taken the time to breathe life into the words on paper.

THAT'S what The Fixer can do for you.
